And I think it's important to note that this disagreement within Jewish people as to what Israel is doing is not as simple as the left-right divide we have become so accustomed to flattening conversations into in the US

Last point but one I think is really important: a not insignificant amount of protest about what Israel is doing in Gaza is coming from Jewish people.

The government of Israel is actively trying to conflate what it is doing with Judaism and many Jewish people disagree.

So I've been lightly tracking them. And there are a LOT. There are some that get reported but don't get attention. Some that don't get attention. And then a smaller subset that do get attention for various reasons.

I am by no means a political wonk. I am absolutely not going to talk about how these kinds of protests (and boycotts) will transfer to policy, or votes or whatever. I have legitimately no fucking clue. This is not that kind of post. I just have a low key obsession with protest.

But I'm a nosy bitch who tries to make sense of the world around her and so I ask people those kinds of questions and also I have a kind of "she doesn't matter face," so people just TELL me things and people I wouldn't necessarily call politically engaged have been like "yeah I called my reps"

The other thing I've discovered is unless you ask people directly stuff like "have you called your rep" people aren't necessarily going to volunteer that they have because what has been reported on plenty is people being fired or reprimanded for speaking out on Gaza.
