Data like archives are not neutral. It's important to include humanists in conversations on AI.

I am convinced now more than ever that the key to better research and discovery is semantic search engines.
I cannot describe in proper words how painful it is to try to find something that you know exists, but are unable to locate due to outdated systems. Every database and library should switch.

I’ve spent 2 years trying to track down a primary source book. Only about 5 surviving copies exist in the world.
Then I finally reached out to my librarian and she was able to track down a copy within a week.
For every of historian, there are librarians making our work possible. 🗃️

One of the best, unputdownable trade press books I've ever read on the British Empire is Uncommon Wealth: Britain and the Aftermath of Empire by Kojo Koram.
I read it almost in one sitting, the only thing that interrupted me was the fact that I had to go teach a section. 🗃️

It never gets old, but the fact that I get to wake up every morning and be a historian is such a blessing.
I spend all day working with academic historians, then evenings and weekends working on public history content. I couldn't have asked for a better life 🗃️
