Were we free flowing, carving out chance after chance? No. Did I expect us to be first game into AFCON? Also No. But we registered a higher xG and 2 more shots on target with only 2 fewer shots. Yes, improvement needed, but it wasn't completely poor and will get better, again perspective imo. #SAFC

We were better team 1st half, they were 2nd half, Brighton have only lost once at home, so thats good away point. They were always going to have a spell and we were well under it final 10mins, but for our 1st game into AFCON, some connections in attack to fix, and it's a positive performance. #SAFC

3-0, of course disappointing, but first time this season I've thought the quality of the opposition was too much for us. Outside of a lack of our typical aggression and O'Nien's mad red card, don't think we did much wrong over the 90. City were great, just need to take the lesson and move on. #SAFC

A show of how far we've come that we are frustrated to come away from Anfield with a point. A fantastic point and another on the board, defended fantastically, one error and a missed chances away from potentially 3pts. The immense pride this team keep giving me, couldn't be prouder, unreal. #SAFC

Very poor and well below usual standards with only the refs performance worse than ours today. Just weren't at it, lacked intensity, creativity and energy levels below par, deserved result. A bad day at the office, it happens, only our 3rd loss, now back at home next to try and bounce back. #SAFC

Made it harder than it needed, very sloppy, but a vital win nonetheless and 12pts ahead of Wolves after today feels massive. Gerrin big win. #SAFC

1st half before the Ballard sub, gave us too much to do. The system change improved us, we had chances, but didn't click in attack today. It is what it is, days like this will happen, off-days where it just doesn't click. They kept trying, a case of learn from it and moving on to the next one. #SAFC

2-0 down, Man Utd have actually played well, with the left-hand side being ripped apart, but switch to back 3 has helped, Ballard should've scored. I'd look at Talbi for Masuaku and have him a LWB like at Forest, only 2 down, still in this, but need an early goal 2nd half. C'MON SUNDERLAND!!! #SAFC
