Go out the VC back door towards the Wildlife Watchpoint. Everything on your right is the Discovery Zone. There's a boardwalk through the reeds and an area of trees including alders which the Siskin and Goldfinch were feeding in. Lots of hawthorns as well for the Redwing, Fieldfare and Blackbirds.

They over winter here until about the third week in April. Generally they return during August though one year I recorded one back here in late July.
I'm not sure if they've ever been recorded in their breeding areas wherever that is. I'd guess the Pennines maybe.

Yep. That one is an August 2019 bird.

The white ring is the marker for this scheme. It's not always visible when they feed in long grass.

It's from a scheme run by Tees Ringing Group. They ring them on Seal Sands. This one is a regular winter returnee. Ringed 21/07/2012. I usually see it on Seaton Common.
