One year after Port Talbot’s steelworks closure in South #Wales, promises of a “green jobs boom” ring hollow. Thousands lost work while investment flows south. Without a just transition that delivers real local benefits, #NetZero risks losing public trust.

The Greenlandification of Antarctica

Antarctica is beginning to behave more like Greenland, with surface melt, ice dynamics, and climate feedbacks in Antarctica exhibiting "Greenland-like” traits, which have major implications for sea-level rise projections.

The Greenlandification of Antarctica - Nature Geoscience
Climate and ice sheet processes in Antarctica increasingly reflect those observed earlier in Greenland. Applying process insights from Greenland can improve projections of future Antarctic ice and climate behaviour.

Really enjoyed speaking with the #NERC GW4+ DTLP PGR cohort today about EDI in research and beyond. Such thoughtful discussion and genuine curiosity — exciting to see the next generation of researchers starting to think about inclusive leadership for the future

I worry the same could happen in Wales. The Well-being of Future Generations Act — fantastic legislation — is at real risk of being undermined or even culled by ideology if Reform wins in the Senedd elections next year.

Absolutely agree.

The UK once led the world in evidence-based climate policy. Undermining that legacy now, in the face of mounting climate risks, is not just ideological it’s reckless.

The science hasn’t changed.
