Given that Israel has several hundred nuclear bombs and missiles capable of delivering them, if the concern was that Iran might soon produce enough fissile material to make one untested bomb with no means to deliver it, what was the urgency? It looks like Trump got stampeded.

If you produce what people want and offer it at a price they agree you have an easy sale. Basic capitalism. If you force it on them that's like soviet style central planning.
Nobody really wants giant SUVs, etc. Rather than listen to the customers the US is trying to manhandle the market.
