Perfect Tom Stoppard story from DTel obituary:

His response to a letter from Harold Pinter canvassing support for a proposal to have the Comedy Theatre in London rechristened the Pinter Theatre, “Have you thought, instead, of changing your name to Harold Comedy?”

Reading letters from the Princess Liselotte of Palantine, the German sister-in-law of Louis XIV, and it's wild because she had this super informal writing style that almost sounds like modern texts

Like at one point she goes "wish to god my son didn't love holding chunks of bread like a peasant"

A woman who lives next door has set up a cat shelter in the alley between our buildings. She puts food out every morning, and the neighborhood cats gather round. This morning, I was sitting in my home office and heard her talking. She was explaining Thanksgiving to the cats.

This work painted in 1901 on Rügen in the Baltic sea, shows the growing influence of Monet's sense of light and Paul Signac's stylistic technique on Wassily Kandinsky, it also shows him anticipating the tensions and relationships between pure colours in a partly abstract seascape

Eddie went downstairs at 7:30 am to squeak next to the front door - his way of saying he wants a walk. I reluctantly got dressed and hurried downstairs to take him out. Found him asleep on the sofa.

My favorite moon landing conspiracy is that it was faked but they hired Stanley Kubrick to direct it and he was so dedicated to make it look real he demanded that they shoot on location.

I HATE changing my bedclothes, especially my duvet cover, and I totally DO NOT experience the euphoria which people report upon doing so. I’m seriously considering employing someone to do it for me as it’s SHEER HELL.

Apologies for not being topical but I’m so depressed by the news (UK and USA in particular) that I’ve imposed a news blackout for a few days. Torture, as a news junky and former BBC reporter, but I need to do it to prevent madness.
