The Lyceum did a stage version some years back; it mostly worked. One big stumbling block: who is Gil-Martin and how do you represent him/it.

It might be unfilmable - though I can think of directors who’d make a go of it.

Me and a screenwriter spent months on various iterations of scripts, including one set in contemporary times. Ended up with something we liked but producer couldn’t summon up funders. Then it emerged he owned rights to said script so that was that.
