There's an old saying in football that goes... "It's the hope that kills you". To me, it looks like Europe including the UK are hoping beyond hope that the US, back channel, is still on their side.

I think the racism and 'othering' that he has encouraged in those who see him as a 'good bloke' and can't think it out for themselves is deliberate and horrifying. Please don't overlook his Bannon Trump links and sympathies.
