It sounds closer to Jersey to me in the getcoverednj commercials and it always caught me a bit off guard since I'd never heard it that way in person

Plus the Hard Times montage might be one of my favorites of all time

I like the first one, but I love the sequel. I think they flesh out the concept more and take more advantage of it

If there's a point to this thread, it's this: cherish the ridiculous, expansive dreamers in your life. They illuminate the world. Warm yourself in the glow they cast and never discount the value of imagining something stupidly impossible together. The alternative - not having them - is worse.

I always get annoyed when they cut away from a big final or something after we're out to show a qualifier where the US is still in. Show me the good stuff!

I only watched it the once when it came out, so I could be misremembering. I saw the first few episodes pointing to 31 being necessary before getting diverted by Control. I mostly remember being worried that the "solution" to Control was going to be tossing it to the Delta quadrant and becoming borg

Yeah, I was trying to go with kind of the inverse of the point I commented on, where instead of idealism being made gritty, the threat posed by 31 to the Federation itself is more ignored. Sure they have to get sent to the future, but only because the computer went evil, not because it is bad

DS9 Section 31: Clearly in the wrong, maybe not even an org, readily defeated by a guy and his Irish best friend by adhering to their principles
Disco S 31: What if the black ops people are really good and cool and were the only thing keeping the federation safe
