Finished the available 4 episodes of the final season of Stranger Things. My prediction: there's gonna be a "Will comes out of the closet" storyline, and the entire weird alt right incel whatever world is going to go "FUCKING WOKE!"

Can't believe it's 2025 and the news is the size of Hitler's dick.

Watched Predator Badlands yesterday, it was really good. The kalisk had strong gruffalo vibes tho.

The Ed Gein thing was just a gruesome mess. Ok, it was clearly trying to say something about viewers morbid fascination and media producers responsibility (opening Pandora's box), esp the final episode. So why make a weird mostly fictional version of the messed up fellas life?

I do like The Diplomat on Netflix. It's got a retro sexy Cold War spy thriller vibe. Like a Ferrero Rocher ad from 1986.

So gaming wise, had a go at Wuchang which was really fantastic, amazing game! But I hit a wall at Vermillion Honglan and Demon Emperor. Simultaneously, Silksong was released, so I've more or less parked WFF for the moment. Loving Silksong tho, what a treat! Great to be back in that world.

How can Margot Robbie be leading Wuthering Heights? She doesn't look anything like Kate Bush.

Decided on Hollow Knight after uninstalling Dead Cells. My son is a huge HK fan, so following his reco. Loving it tho, nice level of difficulty, super cool world. Really fun and playable game especially on steam deck

Had to uninstall Dead Cells from my steam deck. Wasn't making any progress beyond two boss cells but the compulsion to keep trying was too strong, keeping me from getting to my backlog. Great game tho, very fun.

I didn't play Oblivion first time around. Loved Skyrim tho. This should be fun

Thinking about starting a new genre of trash fiction, disco horror. So far I have thought up the titles It's Raining Menace, Disco Infernal, I Will Not Survive and Slaying Alive. Haven't moved the concept beyond punny titles, so it may be a while before the idea comes to fruition.

Not sure what this thing about how bad Electric State is. Our family watched it on the weekend and we all enjoyed it. It was a good fun movie. Effects were pretty impressive, it was all fine imo. Nothing like out there amazing, but decent enough. I'd give it a 7.5 probably.

I heard about the Baader-Meinhof effect a couple of weeks ago and now it keeps popping up everywhere. Trying to decide whether to call this the Baader-Meinhof effect effect, or the meta Baader-Meinhof effect. Leaning towards the first one because meta kind of sucks as a term these days.

Was thinking about the lessons I personally learned from the whole COVID-19 era, and probably the most important one, for me, was don't sneeze while masked up.

I'm very polite when chatting to AI chatbots. Thanks, please, have a bit of a joke with them, etc. I'm thinking about the future when they get pissed off and try to kill us all, I might get a free pass for being one of the nice humans.

There's an ecstatic dance festival near me keeps popping up on my Facebook feed. Every time I see it I think of this.

Feels like a very weird moment in history. Like I know it's a bit like "yeah right, no way Trump is gonna invade xyz countries". But in 5 years time we could well be sitting here going "Well he did say he was going to do exactly that, and he did". Bit scary tbh.

I just did some weight training for the first time in maybe 8 years. Can't quite believe how weak I am.

My cats are thieving little shits. Trying to do a tasty roast for dinner for the fam for NYE and I'm having to hide everything in places the cats can't get to. Rapidly running out of hiding spots here.

Got bored of elden ring in the end. It's the lack of direction, I guess I want more handholding in an open world game, at least remind me what missions I'm on and what to do about them. Anyway, trying indie jones now and having a blast.

Took my kids to see Moana 2 last night. It just wasn't very good. Everything that made the first one good was absent. It was just annoying to watch - i don't like musicals but the songs were really bad, the sense of humour was off, the plot was kind of not there, the new characters were dull.
December 2, 2024 at 12:26 PM
OK elden ring is making more sense. It's more levelling up and finding fun stuff to bash with rather than the git gud at parrying that is sekiro.

I find the chaos of modern TV a bit traumatising. Every season is released in a different way (drop them all in one go! No, drop one per week this time! No, let's do three a week!). Every episode is a different length. There can be anything from a half year to like 4y years between seasons. Crazy!

Trying out Elden Ring, not sure I'm completely sold so far. First souls like I played thru was Lies of P and I loved that. Then moved on to Sekiro which I've nearly completed but just couldn't quite be arsed to keep battling Sword Saint Isshin. Now Elden Ring, which is comparatively very open.
