I think a ton of it depends on context. The man-on-the-street age is over, but if you're in a specific place doing a specific reporting thing and introduce yourself with your creds and why you want to talk, I've never had any problems finding people willing.

I'm not sure why you are arguing with me about this. Canvas offers no native way to take attendance other than a "roll call" feature that allows/requires an instructor to manually mark a student as present.
