The speed that camcer research and drug development happens at is crazy, my mum has now been on 2 different drugs that didn't exist back when she was diagnosed

Omg yeah don't even get me started on squeezing sponges with EDS... it's so bad

Does that really matter when you're serving this hard
November 18, 2024 at 4:29 PM
YEAH they point blank refuse to get it and seem to have an issue with being told anything by someone who's actually affected by it. it misses me off so much

I really appreciate you hearing me out as well, sometimes I come across as a little bit blunt when I'm actually just trying to explain my point of view, so I appreciate the fact that you listened instead of assuming that I was being rude

everyone makes that mistake sometimes, I don't think I know anyone who hasn't accidentally made a bad (or even just badly timed) joke, including me

I searched "tourettes" and was scrolling through the posts but I can't remember if it was through the top posts or the recent ones. I was mostly just trying to find other people on here that have it
October 25, 2024 at 1:50 PM
I think it's important to remember before posting jokes like that, someone with a condition making a joke about it doesn't mean that everyone with that condition is going to be ok with someone without the condition repeating that same joke
October 25, 2024 at 1:47 PM
is there a reason you're ignoring my point stating that it borders on insensitive to people with tourettes?
October 25, 2024 at 1:42 PM
but whether a joke or not, that is blatant misinformation.
October 25, 2024 at 1:41 PM
generally, echolalia refers to a vocal stim. it can be used to describe certain types of vocal tics, but in the context of the joke you made, it clearly means stim. and whether or not you meant it as a joke, it borders on insensitive to people with tourettes
October 25, 2024 at 1:38 PM
and I speak directly from experience with both here, tourettes is significantly harder to cope with than echolalia and can easily put people in very dangerous situations, which echolalia rarely would.
October 25, 2024 at 1:28 PM
comparing stims with tourettes spreads misinformation about tourettes. both neurological and in how they're experienced, they're very different. saying that they're so similar leads to people getting confused between them and incorrectly self diagnosing tic disorders when they're actually stimming
October 25, 2024 at 1:27 PM
yeah, I am aware it was supposed to be a joke but tone indicator or not, it's not funny.
October 25, 2024 at 12:36 PM
no it isn't??
