Valliant et al. studied where young saithe (Pollachius virens) and Atlantic cod (Gadus morhua) live in waters that large nets and past beach seine surveys cannot reach. Comparing diver observations with years of beach seine data to better understand the depths the fish use and when they settle.

What fish can you find swimming between the algae in the rocky intertidal zone of Breiðafjörður? 🐟
Are these fish impacted by seaweed harvesting?🌱

We are back from summer holiday!

Did you know that juvenile fish are found at different locations than adult fish? Juveniles are found on nursery grounds. Researcher looked at the nursery grounds for brown trout and arctic charr around lake Þingvallavatn.

Happy FISHdependence day!!!🎉

The 17th of June is Iceland's national day. On this day, we celebrate Iceland's independence from Denmark. In 1944 Iceland became fully independent from Denmark. We celebrate on the birthday of Jón Sigurðsson, who pushed for this movement.

Happy fishermen's day! 🐟

Fishing has always been an important part of Iceland's history & culture. So we celebrate fishermen on the first Sunday of June each year. In some towns you'll find boat rides on offer, free entries to museums & fishing competitions, sea swimming and concerts
