What kind of man am I, sitting at home, reading magazines, going into a frustrated fury about everything—and then going into my studio to adjust a red to a blue. - Philip Guston
Well written!

Shot in black and white, the wide-angle lens exaggerates Old Montreal’s geometry: a building tilts inwards, converging train tracks pull the eye forward. Leading lines stretch perspective, collapsing past and present into one cinematic corridor. #eastcoastkin #photography #Montreal

Walking home from the symphony in a snowstorm.

Both the night and the falling snow change the way that I see things that I see every day.

Can I request that Stephen get a cameo in the new season of #Severance?

I think that his jumpsuit would fit right in grooving with Milchick.

My upcoming lecture: Alchemical hermaphroditism, the rebis uniting sun and moon, in the work of #Caravaggio including Supper at Emmaus at the National Gallery in #London. Christ embodies conjunctio, matter and spirit fused, where light performs the Great Work and revelation turns flesh to gold!

In Agrigento, the ancient olive tree symbolizes continuity and Mediterranean life, while the Temple of Concordia stands as one of the best-preserved Greek temples, its Doric harmony, columns, and proportions reflecting classical ideals and sacred balance. #eastcoastkin #photography #stunday #travel

Paestum’s Greek ruins, founded as Poseidonia in the 6th century BCE, preserve three monumental Doric temples. Their thick columns, balanced proportions, and limestone construction show early Greek sacred architecture and the power of Magna Graecia. #eastcoastkin #photography #travel

La Vitaleta Church near Pienza is a Renaissance jewel of art and devotion. Its balanced geometry, façade, and interior frescoes echo humanist ideals, while the surrounding Val d’Orcia landscape completes an artwork. From a hike in Tuscany a few years ago. #photography #eastcoastkin #travel

The Monreale Cathedral in Sicily is a Norman masterpiece famed for its vast golden mosaics depicting biblical scenes. Built in the 12th century, it reflects Sicily’s rich history. I had it all to myself for over an hour until the tour busses arrived. #eastcoastkin #photography #travel

I’m posting photos of warm places since it is -25 here. From the #Amalfi Coast in #Italy. Coming in by boat from Salerno and taking the bus to Bolsonaro is the best way to start the path of the gods. These were taken in October and it was perfect hiking weather. #eastcoatskin #travel #photography

Salerno flourished in the Middle Ages with the Salerno Medical School, while its cathedral and coastal setting reflect Norman, Byzantine, and Arab styles. #stunday #eastcoastkin #photography #travel

With all the AI slop being added to software and everything, it turns out that Clippy wasn't so bad after all… I take back all those bad things that I said about him.

I started the 3rd season of Spartacus House of Ashur and one of the characters has a bronze runner in his home. It’s set in Capua and I love these little historical details. All from the Naples Archaeological Museum, a must see when in town! The Farnese Hercules is amazing as are the bronze horses!

Beautiful #Toledo for my #eastcoastkin. It’s over 14 degrees today, a veritable heatwave compared to where I am at.

A few photos from #Iceland for my #eastcoastkin.

These #scapes are from a trip last winter. Each time I visit Iceland I am always stunned by its beauty.

And its -2 in Akureyri and -20 where I live this morning. Perhaps I should get back to northern Iceland to warm up :)

A snowy wintery morning to see the art show about snow and winter. This was a really great show, I am now at home, snuggled up with the exposition catalog and a coffee! The National Art Gallery with Maman by Bourgeois, a Kent Monkman, and a Claude Monet. #art #Ottawa

I am heading to the National Gallery this morning to see this show:

Winter Count: Embracing the Cold - reflects on winter’s significant impact across diverse cultures and artistic expressions.

And since it is snowing and -16, I decided to warm up my kitchen by baking bread. Recipe in alt! ❤️

In the first image below I see Taranto in Apulia and in the second, both Siracusa and Taormina in Sicily. It seems so strange since us moderns are so used to North being at the top of the visualization! Have a great day!

A beautiful sunrise over #Ottawa from my office window early this morning. It is around -15 so you can see the smoke rising from all of the buildings in the cold air!

Unfortunately I got all the way in before realising that I had forgotten my laptop so I am snugly working from home today!

I just returned from this years #Mochitsuki!

Mochi, enjoyed in Japan for over 1,000 years, is made from mochigome, a glutinous rice soaked overnight, steamed in a seiro, then pounded in an usu with wooden mallets until the grains disappear and the dough becomes smooth and elastic.

So good!
