2️⃣ Citizen science provides valuable data for monitoring while serving as a powerful awareness-raising tool for the wider public

🐝Do you want to know more? Read our guidance for monitoring pollinators in urban areas written within the framework of @safeguard-pollinators.eu⬇️

Guidelines for monitoring pollinators in urban habitats
This guidance aims to bring tools and knowledge for cities to use pollinators as indicators of their urban greening and carry out pollinator monitoring.
ieep.eu
ieep.eu
Two ways to ensure urban greening efforts truly benefit biodiversity and pollinators:

1️⃣ Robust monitoring systems: cities need systems to track progress, guide urban planning decisions, and improve actions over time. There are already many excellent examples across Europe.
ieep.eu
#NatureRestorationRegulation requires that Member States ensure no net loss in the total area of urban green space and urban tree canopy cover, and achieve increasing trends from 2031. This aligns with the need to enhance pollinator populations and diversity across ecosystems.
ieep.eu
🌍 On #WorldHabitatDay we call for more biodiversity in urban habitats to strengthen cities’ resilience to climate change, improve the quality of life for citizens and support biodiversity, including pollinators.

Drawing on key informant interviews, real-world case studies, and a stakeholder workshop, our latest paper explored how private financial actors can support that transition ⤵️
Leveraging private finance for the transition to sustainable agriculture  - IEEP AISBL
Authors: Isabella Wedl and Hermann Kam A transition to sustainable agriculture is essential for achieving environmental health and climate resilience across the EU. But public funding alone will not suffice to drive this transformation at the necessary scale and pace. This paper explores how private finance can be mobilised to close the funding gap and...

🎯 @antoine-oger.bsky.social stresses that financing the sustainable agricultural transition should be about giving farmers and businesses the confidence, tools, and certainty to change.

✅️ This needs increased, targeted investment, strong enabling conditions, and binding long-term policy objectives.

Which path for Europe’s industry? 🇪🇺⚡

Decarbonise energy-intensive sectors or lead the next wave of cleantech? With limited resources, the need to be clear on prioritization is crucial for competitiveness and climate.
