Both points understandable, but only superficially true. Agribusinesses (shareholder owned) will benefit from the removal of family farms. Most farmers (that I know) would be about even selling their farms and living off investment income, but the value can only be realised by liquidating it all...

The subsidy is needed because we all want cheap food. You can't have your milk for £1 a pint from mostly non-cruel farming practices without subsidising the farmers.

The problem as I see it is that Labour weren't voted in on a string manifesto. Their whole campaign message was "we're not the Tories", so now they have power, they have no real vision, so they're doing some good tinkering. "Not doing *that* bad may be the worst thing a government can do!

The mad thing about the Motability-hate is that Motability users pay for their cars. If they want something 'nice' it's more expensive than something more standard. I sometimes wonder if the government understand this. Reform certainly don't seem to.

But surely the metric should be 'percentage of your remaining life. If you're 40, then it's 0.0002854%, and every single day, the percentage gets larger.

Beautiful, Eoghan! We have small patches of this on the west coast of Wales as well. The most awesomely peaceful places where even the rain is perfect.
