First, ask yourself whether it feels good or bad to you — emotionally, intuitively. Then, if you want, analyze why. That order matters.

I’m not fond of how we, the regular audience, start building expectations based on tropes or storytelling theories.

Tired of people saying something is good or bad because of the hero’s journey, Chekhov’s gun, or whatever narrative rule fits.

For example: Check the Ryoko's Guide oriental-themed subclasses and analyze how one could make them using just 2024 core rules.

Just a suggestion to add some cool, different content to your channel’s content.

BTW, I really enjoyed your MCDM video — great work!

Cheers!

I’d check crowdfunding sites, pick the most-backed supplements (in numbers of backers, not just funding), and start there to review their designs. Not to build full characters, but to highlight concepts that could inspire new ideas.

Maybe in a podcast-style format, with both of you discussing character and rules design? You could compare them with official 5e and highlight notable differences.

Treantmonk once made videos about changes he’d like to see. You could review 3pp material and say which changes you (dis)like.

I think it would be great if you and Treantmonk reviewed major 3rd-party 5e books. I doubt they’ll ever replace 5e, 2014 or 2024, so it may not be about optimization builds — focus instead on broader, theme-based analysis.

Yo! I just finished binge watching your worst fighting game series. And I think you should treat yourself with the opposite as well!

Why don’t you make a series about the best button bashers ever made, with the same premises (presentations, etc). I guess it would also be fun to watch!
