The event is open to all, and will consist of a talk by Nick Lowe (Royal Holloway), followed by a drinks reception.

The volume itself fuses three concepts in ancient literature that have never been applied together at the same time: ideas of time, grammatical tense, and literary genre.

Teaching a new course this semester focused on Ovid’s Metamorphoses and our first assignment is pondering this marvelous talk by @stephaniemccarter.bsky.social on (the politics of) translating Ovid and how a feminist lens resists contemporary gender and sexual stereotypes.

He was previously an editor of the Sculpture Journal and has recently contributed to the exhibition catalogue for 'Siena: The Rise of Painting 1300-1350'. He has just been awarded a Leverhulme Research Fellowship for a project called ‘What Lies Within? The Hidden Interior of the Sculpted Body’.

Peter is Head of Subject for History of Art at the University of Bristol. He is a specialist in late medieval and Renaissance sculpture and also works on Italian literature of the period, Dante in particular.
