Yes - I learned more about him, and what the song meant to him, and it made me appreciate his cover so much more. He definitely understood the assignment! And yes - stunned is the word! It was so beautiful! I’m tearing up just thinking about it.

No, it was spectacular aftermath!!! I never watch the Grammys anymore and happened to be watching live - I lost my mind! And the response (is that better? 😂) gave me hope for the world. (Which has since been dashed, but that moment happened, and I’ll take it.)

I’m a pretty big REM fan and I only recently found out it was a cover, and I don’t think it’s universally loved, hence my concern.

I heard it for the first time in the aftermath of the Grammys duet with Luke Combs. It’s an important assignment. The song took my breath away.
