Korra's strength is also entirely independent of her being the avatar. Most of the time she's just a brick shithouse bender who's been training for years. She does remarkably little multi-element stuff for ages.

The Avatar spends a lot of time as like the second best bender at best in a given scene a lot. There's a lot of people who can reasonably claim they've beaten the avatar's ass. Sparky Sparky Boom man did it repeatedly until Sokka got him.

For all the many many many issues fable 3 had it was very funny to just go 'nah, i have such personal wealth i can bankroll any social policy i want' when it went 'But will you make hard choices to fund the save the world army?' and the game just let you do it.
