11 S is definitely the definitive version of the game though. 11 S docked or on steam over the non-S version

DQ3 is, imo, way less interesting than 1 and 2 because of how unique those two feel in the series. But I also haven't played HD-2D of those yet, so I unfortunately can't personally vouch for them. But they should definitely be played in order! 3 coming out first is awful awful

I'm a huge DQ fan (beat every mainline game besides 7 and 9 which I quit and 10, which is a Japanese only MMO) and the HD-2D for dq3 is about equal to the japanese only Snes version which is widely considered to have been the definitive one before the remake. DQ3 is also one of the more famous ones

caligula effect is the most 7/10 game of all time but it's one of my favorite games of all time because once you finish it and stop playing ti and just think about it and watch the anime and read the novel it's sooo good. and then you play the sequel and it's 10/10 and makes the previous game better

I get that the idea was for expectations to get subverted, but usually it only feels good when you get something you didn't think you wanted instead. Nobody wanted that shit man.

Like yes the idea that Yuji was supposed to die with the fingers but was protected was turned into Megumi being the one who Yuji wanted to save. Like yea it's cool I guess. It feels so bad though, narratively.

I am currently in my own world of fanfiction in which the ending was focused on Yuji's goal of dying among the people who cared for him coking to fruiting by HIM being taken over as Sukuna's vessel and Megumi, the one who wanted him alive the most, being the reason they didn't end up killing him

This is the reason I love Gojo vs Disasters and hate Gojo vs Sukuna. Sukuna and Gojo have no reason to fight besides the fact that Sukuna is evil. Like cmon man. Gojo's conundrum vs Disasters was all the people he wanted to save, it's interesting! And also that he was defeated by his own demons.

I think him having to be the main villain with his machinations makes everything he does less interesting. The only character who has a relationship with him is Choso. When Yuta gets to fight him again they are playing on him fighting Geto before, but this isn't Geto!

Like IDK Choso is cool because he's one more consequence of the fucked up shit that happened in the Heian era and that was honestly enough. None of the "oh this is an old man but in a young body in modern era" shit is interesting. Worst part of the whole series.

i just honestly think Kenjaku is the worst part of the whole show and if Geto like somehow got brought back as a cursed spirit or some shit and decided to go even more evil it'd be a better story. It would also mean less of the Heian shit. Sukuna should have been the only one.
