Portrait of Tameryraptor markgrafi, a carcharodontosaurid from the Late Cretaceous of Bahariya Formation (Egypt). Its remains have long been attributed to Carcharodontosaurus, but it is distinguished by the presence of a small horn on its nose and symmetrical teeth.

Black and white portrait of big predatory dinosaur with small nasal horn. Done in Paint 3D.

An adult Ceratosaurus nasicornis caught juvenile Torvosaurus tanneri. These theropods, like an Allosaurus, were found in the famous Morrison Formation, but their remains are much less common. Despite some differences in food sources, they competed and killed each other from time to time.

#paleoart
A black and white drawing of horned Ceratosaurus with its prey, juvenile Torvosaurus tanneri which has mor gracile appearance than adult. TIntegument of latter is based on skin impressions of possible megalosauroidean Juravenator starki from Germany. Done in Paint.

A happy day 2 of #Croctober (lets see how long I can keep this going)
Crocs are well known for their parenting, but did you know that we even have fossils of them on their nest?
This specimen comes from Germany and clearly shows a Diplocynodon mother that died on her nest
A photograph and a line drawing of a fossil crocodilian (Diplocynodon) curled up above its nest. The head is moderately long and somewhat blunt and the body curles around the animal so that the tail curves around the skull. The illustration highlights the presence of several eggs surrounding the fossil.

It's a great solution to show such an ambiguous taxon from a long distance!

Thank you very much! Glad that you're back!

Portrait of dinosauromorph Pisanosaurus mertii from the Late Triassic of Argentina. It was either basal ornithishian (as classified initially) or silesaurid. In any case this animal was herbivore or omnivore a little more than a meter long. Neck filaments are speculative.

Black and white portrait of dinosauromorpf with partially feathered neck and scaly head. Done in Paint.

Сan't wait to see the full version of the painting and paper, I think it will be interesting! 😀

News @ Urwelt-Museum Oberfranken (UMO) in Bayreuth: new ichthyosaur, Eurhinosaurus mistelgauensis, named today after UMO's prime excavation site, the Jurassic clay pit Mistelgau. @olorotitan.bsky.social beautifully reconstructed the to-be fossil on a belemnite battleground typical for the locality.
Freshly deceased Eurhinosaurus mistelgauensis on a Jurassic sea floor covered in Belemnite rostra (a "belemnite battleground"). Artwork by Andrey Atuchin.

The big tableau of early Permian synapsids in the next gallery unified a bunch of mounted skeletons that had previously been in separate cases. A nearby lab area covered the concept of extinction ("the fate of all species") in general terms.
Desert-y platform with various four-legged skeletons, some with big dorsal fins.

Croc fans simply can't catch a break, after Kostensuchus in late August and Paarthurnax just a week ago we got ANOTHER fossil croc published
Meet Thikarisuchus, a very small neosuchian from the Cenomanian of Montana
a 3D reconstruction of the skull of Thikarisuchus in lateral view, it is shown with enormous eyes, an overall oval head shape, tapering and short rostrum and heterodont teeth consisting of pointed anterior and bulbous posterior teeth a 3D reconstruction of Thikarisuchus in dorsal view, the skull is broadly triangular with a tapering snout tip that is still fairly broad and large eyes

A megaraptoran skeleton! From the end of the Cretaceous!

Excited about the announcement of Joaquinraptor, the top predator down south when tyrannosaurs ruled the north. The Schwarzengger to T. rex's DeVito (at least in the arms category). My thoughts:

www.livescience.com/animals/dino...
Gigantic dinosaur with 'claws like hedge trimmers' found with croc leg still in its jaws in Argentina
Speedy megaraptor Joaquinraptor casali had big arms and claws like hedge trimmers that would have made T. rex's forelimbs look puny.

Duonychus tsogtbaatari, a therizinosaurid from the Late Cretaceous of Bayanshiree Formation (Mongolia). It's known by partial postcranial skeleton including dorsal vertebrae and both forelimbs. Duonychus has only two manual digits, with big and curved claws.

#ZAVACEPHALE IS FINALLY OUT! 🥳 Our first definitive Early Cretaceous pachycephalosaur! (~15 my older than the previous oldest pachycephalosaurs) And the first hand material for the clade! I can't tell y'all how much of a pleasure it was to review this paper! ☺️

Portrait of Riparovenator milnerae, a baryonychine spinosaurid from Early Cretaceous of Isle of Wight. Remains of this theropod previously were assigned to Baryonyx. In this work I painted color on a black base - an unusual experience! Done in Adobe Photoshop.

Colored portrait sketch of Troodon formosus, a troodontid theropod from the Late Cretaceous of USA and Canada. It was initially described by tooth as a lizard and then referred to pachycephalosaurids. Later it became clear that Troodon was a bird-like theropod.

Today I downloaded Gimp and did some work in it. It was a lot of fun using the different tools! The result was this portrait of a random megaraptoran. Megaraptora is a clade of possible coelurosaurs (or even tyrannosauroideans) with forelimbs adapted for capture of prey.

Croc fans are eating good today, we just got a new and exceptionally well preserved robust peirosaurid from Patagonia: Kostensuchus atrox
We have most of the skeleton, which suggests a total length of perhaps up to 3.5 meters
The preserved fossils of Kostensuchus, featuring a complete skull, most of the spinal collumn and hips but lacking the tail.
A reconstruction of the skeleton of Kostensuchus, showing it to have had a robust and large head, stocky body and shoulder hump. The skeleton is partially greyed out showing the missing material.
