Be brave. Love with all your might. Embrace curiosity & generosity. Sometimes, be spontaneous & leap before you’re ready. Do these things because real is found outside the confines of routine.— it’s out there, messy & glorious waiting for you to jump in.

Trust. We’ve all experienced it. We’ve all seen it fall apart. Think of trust as a bank account. You make deposits of loyalty, honesty, and reliability. But one big withdrawal, like forgetting a birthday, gossiping, or accidentally eating their last piece of pie, can leave you in trust bankruptcy.

Life can hit you like a wet sponge: you come down with the flu, your car’s battery is dead, your microphone decides it’s had enough, and there’s been monsoon rains for the past three days. Yeah, welcome to life. Now, go make a plan—and be totally okay when it goes sideways.

Joy. Sorrow. Opposites. But, together they paint a fuller picture of our human experience. They weave a beautiful tapestry of those moments of joy and threads of sorrow. Embracing both emotions allows us to live authentically. Both are essential components of a full and meaningful life.

“Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one’s lifetime.”- Mark Twain

There’s nothing quite like the thrill of acting on stage. One second you’re pacing backstage, feeling like your heart might actually beat its way out of your chest, and the next — bam! — you step into the lights, and suddenly, you’re someone else. Acting on stage is pure magic.

Philosophers/poets have used a lot of words to define the positives and negative about being alone. Simply being without other people and can be enjoyable as long as you are comfortable with the company you keep. When alone we must rely on our own resources, our thoughts, creativity.

My wife’s grandmother had a number of down-home sayings. For example, “Many hands make light work.”
People coming together to get the job done. Unity.
What would happen if we all decided to work together rather than working to put each other down.

I love to see people smile. It’s a simple, yet profound gesture that conveys friendliness, warmth, and acceptance. A smile is, a powerful, intangible gift that costs nothing to give yet can have a significant positive impact on someone's day. So, share a smile...spread some peace.

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.”

A smile. A compliment. Simple acts and yet profoundly powerful.Performing a kind act, no matter how small, only requires a brief amount of time, but can have a significant positive impact on someone else. Think about how you feel when you are on the receiving end

Words can be powerful. Right? They can inspire, uplift, and motivate. Luther King Jr. used his words to fight for equality and human rights. But, he supported his words through strong actions, leaving a lasting legacy that continues to inspire generations.

Sometimes we forget the power of a smile or an encouraging word.

We forget that little acts of kindness...love can have an incredible ripple effect, affecting many lives.

I think we all want to be a positive influence in the world. It doesn't take much.
Be happy.
Be grateful.
Be accepting.

Notice when things are good. Not perfect. Just good. Notice the feeling of pleasure. Notice the warm embrace of sunshine. Notice the art project a child is sharing with you. Then, say thank you. To the person you’re with, for the life you live, to the God you feel must be there.

Emotions can be messy. Due to their complex nature, they can be difficult to adequately understand, especially in those moments when you most desperately need to understand them. You can’t get rid of emotions; you wouldn’t want that. But, you can do things to make them work for you.

Too often the support the strongest ones give to everyone else is seldom returned because no one thinks they need it. Behind their strength, they are just as vulnerable as everyone else. “Your presence is the most precious gift you can give to another human being.” ~ Marshall B. Rosenberg

If after the holidays are over you plan on losing some weight, be careful that you don’t attack the fat in the fattiest organ in your body. Your brain. That’s right. 60% of your brain’s dry weight is good ol’ fat. Putting on some extra weight? Tell people you are increasing brain mass.

What is kindness? Compassion. Sympathy. Choosing to do something that helps others, even in small ways. It’s putting the needs of others in front of your own. Kindness is remembering to show empathy, forgive mistakes, be nonjudgmental, be patient, be generous. Practice kindness.
