Brecht's 1930s play "Fear and Misery of the Third Reich" shows how fascism seeps into the fabric of everyday life. In "Applying Brecht's Anti-Spectacular Approach to Staging Fascism" I extend the dramaturgical techniques into the present.

For the 1902 production of Tolstoy’s The Power of Darkness, on the theme of rural destitution, Stanislavski brought in an unnamed peasant woman to act in the play. In “Stanislavski versus the Peasant Woman,” I imagine how she challenged established acting habits.
