You can get a universal adapter that clamps onto the eyepiece tube and will accept most phones. It’ll only get you the same image as looking through the eyepiece, but it’s a good budget-friendly way to start.

I don’t consider myself a gamer, but I’ve used a pair of Razer Kraken(?) headphones with my Xbox for a couple of years and have been happy with them. 3.5mm jack, on-ear volume and mute. Only negative I read was the braided cable can be noisy when rubbing against things.
