I want to make a magical girl game aimed at girls 😔

I originally planned going into games, but the stories i heard while still being in uni (and later from a female friend who works in game dev) just...put me off so much i now work in book publishing instead lmao

Yeah it's usually only when woman step up to take it into their own hands that these games happen. The problem is they lack the opportunities to get into these positions in the first place 🫠

the incentive to make these. if there are is a lack of women in the dev teams nothing they make will actually be able to reach the target audience. Men don't feel the need to target a female audience. And which woman would like to work in a place with a strong macho culture?

I think part of why there is such a lack of women targeted games is that within the big dev studios there seems to be quite the macho culture. I hope this is changing now, but to make games for girls and women you kinda need the female perspective in developing these games and also

I really hope stuff like Mahou Shoujo Dandelion will get more popular in the future to bring back the reign of mahou shoujo for girls 😌

I like Madoka fine but I'm salty about how it skewed the view people have on magical girls and how they are supposed to be. I think it's gotten better since back when it just recently aired but whenever someone says it's their favorite magical girl series I know they don't like magical girls.

I haven't read that particular book of her yet but i love T.Kingfisher! My favorite book of hers i think is nettle & bone so far. But i also really enjoyed swordheart. She has a way to combine fantasy, horror and humor which is always really fun and enjoyable. Haven't read a bad book by her yet.
