A reintroduction as more people seem to be here.
We're a small independent coffee company with 5 full time staff. We've brought coffees to Ireland from producers who are genuinely among world's best. The business however was always meant to be about more than just selling coffee for profit.

More Irish activists have now been taken by the IDF from international waters including author Naoise Dolan, TD Barry Heneghan and psychiatrist Veronica O’Keane.

They are part of the Freedom Flotilla Coalition.

We've never taken part in "Black Friday". It's one of those rare occasions where each year I write an Insta post spelling out why we don't. A website of "Resistance" for likeminded businesses might be a good resource as many do choose to resist this stuff. No judgement on those who do engage obvs.

Got an email from Amazon to be part of their invite only "Brands of Ireland" campaign which apparently aims to help businesses for Black Friday, Christmas etc. Sounds nice but Amazon is a killer of small businesses and they can fuck Black Friday. Buy independent and buy local when you can.

Can’t decide what to buy on Prime Day?

Try: absolutely nothing, and then go support indie bookstores instead 📚

We stopped taking on wholesale customers over a year ago. Focus now is trying to get word out on how we're run in hope a really bIg business will see it's viable and copy. This year we'll give up 4% of all our income. Need coffee, you can buy here. If not you might tell others imbibe.ie/pages/shop

‘WHAT WILL JESUS SAY?’ TONY BLAIR, BIG TECH AND THE ISRAEL CONNECTION

As Trump announces the former British PM as his choice to help govern Gaza, @carolecadwalla.bsky.social investigates the opaque workings of Blair’s institute…

#TheNerve #TheNerveNews
#TonyBlair #CaroleCadwalladr
Collage image of public figures (From left to right) Benjamin Netanyahu, Larry Ellison, Donald Trump, Tony Blair and Rupert Murdoch. Set against a bright yellow and orange background. Blair is prominent and central, rolling back his head back in laughter, surrounded by the other men. The text underneath reads: ‘WHAT WILL JESUS SAY?’ TONY BLAIR, BIG TECH AND THE ISRAEL CONNECTION. Bottom right is a logo that says THE NERVE.

Hadn't thought of it that way before but evidence would strongly suggest that you're absolutely right.

So many just seem so morally bankrupt. Messi does "come to Saudi" ads. I honestly do get all the points your making. I had just hoped someone would stand up for what's actually right. Not one did.

So many issues around last WC. We all knew about stadium workers well in advance let alone anything else. I’m a lifelong fan and know football’s long down the drain but Quatar exacerbated it. It said anything’s ok for money. Players were complicit. They knew. Just my opinion. I know lots disagree.
imbibecoffee.bsky.social
I get that. I just respectfully disagree. There were a few with absurd wealth who could have boycotted that tournament for the greater good, particularly those who’d made prev shows of highlighting their principles. Could have been so impactful if say, a Ronaldo had boycotted that tournament.
imbibecoffee.bsky.social
I'd lump footballers in with your thoughts on comedians. Lot of talk pre Quatar about what they were going to do. It ended up a big nothing. Lots made a show of rainbow lace campaigns etc, which now seem personal branding exercises. Many had the following/financial might to take a stand. All blew it

Thought I'd try out that "treat yoself" thing my kids are always going on about...

I was going for an "absence make the heart grow fonder" vibe:). Absolutely brilliant film.

Loved it. Very unlike any of his other films. He's a proper genius. If you've not heard the episode with him on Marc Maron's podcast, then you really need to put that right.

Was chatting to a pal who runs a roastery in the UK. They had a team film day last week. It inspired me to take a day off and go to the cinema for an ‘away from my team day’:). Ticket booked to see ‘one Battle After Another’ at lunchtime.

New Gist: A Presidential Trio

"Jim Gavin (or Don Uachtaránacht as he's also known to the less observant poster reader) ...can't wait to visit some community groups, he explains in his interviews with the zeal of a man eating a slice of waterlogged bread"

The Gist: A Presidental Trio
After a campaign lead up where every head-the-ball in Ireland suggested they'd like to be President, we're left with the bare minimum of three choices. This is the Gist.

We’ve never really advertised as a business. It’s mostly been word of mouth and me on socials. About to change that. Not sure if it’s traditional advertising but we’re going to be supporting/partnering with some people who are doing some really good things that I like personally. More to follow etc
imbibecoffee.bsky.social
Need coffee this week? We're good at roasting it. Our business is also more than just selling coffee for profit. We'll give up 4% of all our earnings this year as I think it's a good thing to do. It's a model where everyone benefits.
AND WE'VE A NEW SITE THAT NOW WORKS PROPERLY!

My twins have reached an age where I’m starting to slowly get back into the things I used to really enjoy before they were born. Reading was very much one of those things. This is excellent.
The novel ‘Kala’ by Colin Walsh held in my hand again against a white wall.
