Canadian Theatrical News: Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle
Aniplex, Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures are bringing Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle to Canadian theatres this month. The film is the first in a planned trilogy set to conclude the animated adaptation of Koyoharu Gotouge’s Demon Slayer manga series. The movie opened in Japan on July 18th.

Canadian Theatrical News: The Legend of Hei 2
GKIDS is bringing the Chinese animated film The Legend of Hei 2 to select Canadian theatres this month. The film acts as a sequel to the 2019 feature based on The Legend of Luo Xiaohei, a flash animation and webtoon series by artist MTJJ. The movie opened in China on July 25th. The first film received a direct-to-video release in North America by Shout!

Yu-Gi-Oh! Sevens gets Canadian streaming debut
Yu-Gi-Oh! Sevens made its Canadian debut on a variety of streaming platforms earlier this summer. All 92 episodes of the English dub are available on Hoopla and Tubi, with the first season also accessible on Amazon Prime. The releases are handled by Cineverse, who distributes the Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise digitally and on home video in North America on behalf of Konami Cross Media.

WildBrain to shutter Family Channel and sister channels
Canadian children's entertainment company WildBrain has announced its intent to shutter its linear television business in Canada. While a specific date wasn't shared, Family Channel, Family Jr., WildBrain TV and Télémagino will cease operations in "the coming months."

YTV to lose Nickelodeon content in September

CJ 4DPlex Film is bringing the Seishun Inoshishi Atarashii Gakko! The Movie concert film to Canadian theatres this month. The release celebrates the girl group's tenth anniversary, featuring documentary footage spliced with the final performance of the Nippon Calling Tour 2024. The film opened in Japan on June 6th.

Canadian Theatrical News: Jujutsu Kaisen: Hidden Inventory / Premature Death – The Movie
GKIDS is bringing Jujutsu Kaisen: Hidden Inventory / Premature Death - The Movie to Canadian cinemas this month. The film is a compilation of the second season of the Jujutsu Kaisen anime television series. The show itself is an adaptation of Gege Akutami's ongoing Weekly Shonen Jump manga series of the same name. The second season debuted between July and December 2023.

Corus to cut secondary children’s channels in September
Canadian telecommunications trade publication CARTT has reported that Corus Entertainment will shutter a handful of its secondary kids and youth channels this year. ABC Spark, Disney Jr., Disney XD, La Chaine Disney and Nickelodeon will all cease broadcasting on September 1st. Corus confirmed the report, stating the company "regularly reviews its portfolio of channels to ensure we are meeting the evolving needs of our audiences and distribution partners."

Toei digs up Pretty Cure’s dub, while AnimEigo uncovers a Full Moon
Two Calgary produced anime dubs are seeing the light of day for the first time in a very long time. Toei Animation will stream Pretty Cure on their official YouTube channel on Saturdays and Sundays starting June 28th. The nostalgia-themed "Summer Weekend Splash" event will also showcase the original Digimon Adventure series and the 4Kids adaptation of Magical DoReMi. The latter's dub similarly not having been seen officially in over a decade.
