I'm a ghost. Boo bitch.
Not to mention this kind of legislation is designed to avoid having real regulation that would actually effect their profits and benefit the public by limiting the influence of these big corpo websites have over your day to day life with addictive and manipulative practices.

Finally, I will end on this, these bills endanger everyone especialy children and are only designed to extract more wealth and control, prop up the hierarchy, and protect and empower abusers while completely disarming victims.

The internet needs regulation. It has for a long time, and we've conceded alot of ground to these corporations who want to turn it into the worst mall ever. But these bills are just not it. These bills are not about safety and fairness, they are about taking away one more our tools to fight back.

But it has always been our greatest tool at levelling the playing field between the powerful and the poor. All the world's answers at our finger tips if we can be curious enough to look and smart enough to not take it all at face value. And now they want to take it from us.
December 5, 2025 at 10:59 PM
The internet has always had problems. Partially due to our cautionless embrace of this technology where we ran heedlessly forward until they were so integrated we couldnt really pull back to reassess, and partially due to an underestimation of our own susceptibility to bad faith information.
December 5, 2025 at 10:55 PM
I believe what we are seeing right now in these bills bit also in many other happenings is a concerted effort by the old guard of wealthy, powerful, and oppressive elites to claw back and secure power, that has been slipping away, firmly into their grasp.

They always start small but always need just a bit more, and Christianity has been angling for more and more political power in a supposedly secular country for decades.
December 5, 2025 at 10:50 PM
They are often the ones defining in these bills what is "indecent" and qualifies as "porn" or "dangerous indoctrination". They say its to protect kids then pitch legislation for conversion therapy, and honestly, we ALL know these churches' history with children.
December 5, 2025 at 10:47 PM
Many of these bills are not so secretly supported and pushed by religious organizations who's indoctrination relies heavily on a lack of access to information. They are wealthy orgs who don't pay taxes looking to secure their wealth and influence by keeping out idealogical competition.

It is an exercise in control. They need to know you wont do anything they dont want you to. Because if you won't, they are untouchable.
December 5, 2025 at 10:30 PM
The government wants to know you're not looking at things they dont want you to see, and if you are they need to know exactly who and where you are. Its not a good sign of a government's moral clarity if they are so afraid of their people they need to track them.
December 5, 2025 at 10:27 PM
Parents will feel a need to protect their families, and the government has cast their neighbors as the threat. Whether that's from queer people, ethnic minorities, or even just other people's ideas.
December 5, 2025 at 10:25 PM
It is also the perogative of corrupt, authoritative regimes to curtail the public's ability to be informed & safely organize together. Lest they come to the correct conclusion that they need to defend themselves from oppression. Protecting kids is devisive propaganda wield to weaken the public.

Oh and uh support school computer labs and online safety courses?
December 5, 2025 at 10:12 PM
The politicians bringing these bills forward are not doing it to protect anyone, but they ARE paid well by lobbyists to push them through. And end stage capitalism loves monopolies.
December 5, 2025 at 10:11 PM
I would argue republicans are the party most invested in silencing victims whilrle also using them as meat shields to further strip their rights away.
December 5, 2025 at 10:08 PM
Only the biggest companies have the resources to build and maintain the databases required to comply with these bills. Its essentially walling the internet off behind an impossible pay wall for businesses.
December 5, 2025 at 10:05 PM
These bills also surrender control of the net to the 5 companies that own it now. Thats why some are sponsored by pintrest or meta. Its the end of competition. You cant replace or even bargain with Amazon & Google when they are the only way to access the deeply integrated systems we all rely on.
December 5, 2025 at 10:03 PM
If you really cared about safely raising well rounded humanbeings, you'd take an active interest in helping them learn about the world. You'd support schools teaching things like sex ed., fiscal responsibility, history, and dinosaurs for fuck sake. Not smothering them in your own ignorance.
December 5, 2025 at 9:52 PM
This has always been the problem with "parental rights". It only serves to keep kids from learning to recognize abuse/wrong doing and seek help. Its about shitty parents thinking they own their children and maintaining that power.
December 5, 2025 at 9:41 PM
Obvi, these bills don't protect kids. ID databases are security risks, restrictions push kids into unsafe sites to get around them, & lack of access isolates queer children. But another group it isolates is abused children seeking help, & I think that's partially the point. To aid & abet the abusers

Ugh! How could you possibly, like, mistake ME for one of THOSE? Get with it! By the way, it was totally a bagel with cream cheese!
