something that always frustrated me as well was - i lived there for a certain number of years - that has inherent value in itself - its a classist framing that assumes 'poorer' people must continue to pay rent while 'wealthier' get that money back plus when they sell increasing their wealth

its the robert moses method of development - just start building/tearing down and so when you get around to 'asking' for permission its more detrimental to say no

and this is only conceivably applicable to young people without children - we have decent insurance and it is still insanely expensive to take the kids to the doctor - so do they want us to have families or not...
