I know that problem! Some systems just need a bunch of rolls to sing. Ran into similar problems when I played my first pbta style games

The borgs are also fun if your group is vibing with the tone. Goblin grinder for MB and reaper repo for cy-Borg are super fun. Ran both of them at my flgs. Other famous one shot zero prep games would be honey heist and escape from Dino island

I think mausritter is perfect for that undertaking. It’s very self explanatory as a setting (you’re mice) it’s free and a perfect way of proving that you don’t need a a gazillion of options to make for a fun and interesting session

It’s a great module I ran it once full and two one shot incursions in it and already think about the next run

I love Grock! It was my first exposure to a full on gonzo science fantasy game. Still haven't run or played it but would totally do if the chance arises.

That’s true that’s why I think well written and chosen examples of play are so helpful. Into the odd shines here. Especially with more abstract rules light systems they can be a huge help for players and gms alike

I can totally see that. But that was a bit my point that there is not much good GM advice in osr books. For example ose has basically nothing in it. Where other games like mausritter are very clear on what the scope of the system is and how to run a session

Exceptions here are into the odd, mausritter and the black hack (amongst others I’m sure). All of them feature a great practical gem guide that helped me as a noob a great deal in understanding how to run these games.

I kind of disagree, as a dm who started out in the osr. I think an easy to play system is also easy to run. It’s more on the adventures that they are often extremely sparse in information how to run them well and on system side that these games often lack a proper gm guide.
