FINALLY: I hate the "super flu" label. Stop calling it that. This is "just" the flu. The flu is bad. It's always been bad. It kills thousands of people a year. Subclade K is just a particularly virulent strain because it's a new mutation.

Also: even though the current flu vax doesn't target subclade k, there's been signs that it does offer some protection. But, and I say this very gently, all that means is your chances of dying are lower. That's all. So please act accordingly.

Practice proper hygiene (ie wash your hands, no I'm serious WASH YOUR HANDS). Wear a mask in crowded spaces. Take vitamin C and zinc to boost your immune system.

That's because it's a mutation that sprung up in Australia after our current vaccines were in production. It happens.

This means you can still catch this particular flu strain even if you get the vax. So please be careful.
