Maybe the reason that "fear the enemy over the horizon, not us, your protectors (and overlords)" works so well is precisely because it's been working since the neolithic which means we live in societies that have been soaking in pro-hierarchy propaganda for hundreds of generations.

You really should switch to something like ghost, which is about as easy to use and monetize but doesn't have substack's problems.

Given the scale of interstellar distances, one of the hardest parts of any interstellar relationship is just getting past the "we think we're cool, are you cool?" stage. And the easiest way to do most of that is just wait things out and avoid conversing with civilizations that blow themselves up.

I almost feel sorry for folks like Cuban who are so empty inside they don't understand the value of creating things to share with others (a meal, a story, a joke, a drawing, a sweater, etc.) or the value of pure expression. His kind are actively destroying humanity though so my empathy is on pause.
