For comparison, the NDP
Party in Canada has taken the place of the liberal party in the provincial governments, pretty much everywhere west of Ontario.

They are a lot closer to Mamdani in policy and sentiment than most American democrats in politics.

If anything, I think Mamdani’s democratic socialism message would play better in red state middle America than centrist democrat neoliberalism, but that not because Mamdani would pick up MAGA. I think he’d pick up a good portion of the “everybody sucks here” crowd.
