The Australian system incentivisis people to spend down my reducing tax breaks if you don't reduce your balance. Eg. 7% withdrawal after 75. You inheritance is penalised inside the tax advantaged system as well.

If correct, can't I make fortune by buying at close and selling at open. This would be arbitrated away surely.

I thought the opinion piece was well targeted and carefully constructed to focus on the issue of aid organisations being blocked. Let other columns (past and future) address the two other very significant issues.

I think it was a good idea but too complex to administer. Should be a $2m indexed limit then back to normal marginal rates. The non indexed $3m would achieve this eventually, but now I think the $3m may be indexed. Idiots.

It seems to me they can't bridge the gap between what the electorate needs and their party membership. One path would be for a new modern grouping of small L liberals to emerge from the increased # of independents.

Many of my friends have noticed that it seems no one from the government ever debates on this, oil or iron ore royalties to tell is why they are a great idea. On the table at the summit? It is like an orchestra of silence.
