Yeah, taking my eldest and my aunt (who cared for us when my marriage went to shit) to a beach house for a week.

If the person implementing this policy is unable to see beyond the end of their own nose, this suggests to me an inability to truly listen to and engage with the counter arguments and views of others. Which renders them unsuitable in my eyes. Unless the point is only to ram this through uncritically

Hey, sorry I missed you. The last week has been crazy anyway, I probably wouldn't have time to talk properly. Plus we had an incident last night with a top bloke abusing his wife around the store and another customer giving him what for. Christmas is a delight.

I share your impulse and impulse control. Strangers/customers lay hands on me every week. They are sternly told to desist and look hurt and shocked at having been told off. They see no problem with their behaviour. It isn't just men, older women frequently cross boundaries.
