Today’s lichen spottings.
Yellow and grey lichens on a scrap of fallen bark. Lichen cups on a twig in dappled green light. Wild lichen on a red-leaved shrub. Curly lichen on a fallen twig.

Our next door neighbour has an apple tree that overhangs our garden. The apples are something like Bramleys, but she insists they’re Egremont Russets. I wish they were.

It’s had a year in its pot so far. I didn’t want to disturb it any more after digging it up last year. I have to decide whether to just see what happens, or try and turn it into a bonsai.

I have an oak tree in a pot. Not quite sure how that will go, but it definitely can’t go in the ground. I dug up a stray seedling from under the big tree in my parents’ garden just before their house was sold.
