Oh Steve!! This is cool! The more LK South American fauna the better!

I’ve been working in natural history museums since I was 16, in that time I’ve met very few researchers who look like me. AMNH opening an exhibit highlighting black scientists in natural history (esp in our current climate) is MONUMENTAL to say the least! This will be a must visit!

Black in Natural History Museums in now open! See it on Floor 3 in the Museum's Gilder Center. Details: bit.ly/3KfbzTS

Field season came and went! Five weeks of great people, lots of stratigraphy, ~2k lbs of sediment collection (meaning tons of microfossils), even some rodeos!

Happy #FossilFriday !

I had an AWESOME time this week, CT scanning and printing my tiny #Campanian therians at FHL’s Lab 8!

Thanks @fishguy.bsky.social for showing me the ropes and having me up there!

Of course! Here are some of the fossils we scanned!
The teeth are so small that we mount them on the heads of pins (safety and easier to study)!

They sit at about ~ 75 MYA!

Small but mighty! Late Cretaceous mammals are the best!

This is also the first time I have see a scientific use of multicolor filament. The three colors in this filament end up identifying facets of the teeth that face in the same direction.

Printouts of fossils teeth for Isiah Newbins. These fossils are about the size of a sesame seed. Being able to hold them and compare shapes is helpful in thinking about variation and function.

Teaching people about Multituberculates has been a little easier recently (tattoo-Filikomys; specimen-Meniscoessus [mesial end of a left p/4])

They call me the microfossil bloodhound

The sick stance is absolutely necessary during a pre-pick.

Good form= good fossils
