I've been thinking about it and I actually really like the redesign of Donkey Kong.
It looks truer to Junior and I think he has a chance to have more expression.
I think Nintendo wanted to change this because of Rare owning the rights to the Kongs from the 64 game. They'll Instead Make their own.
