clarification: turning on the taps for the Cór Innealtóirí is the *only* kind of “defence budget spending increase” I can get behind. #SaveTheTripleLock 🏗️🛠️⚙️

ok but genuinely when will the govt. of the day not only create the state construction co. for public housing BUT ALSO task the defence forces's very own Cór Innealtóirí with rebuilding and electrifying our rail/metro networks OR must the 26C be 4evr left to suffer the free market's inefficiencies

the answer, as per my long-hand workings and excel, to all of this is 1,603.

ALSO wa remains one of the best things about the internet and is largely unchanged from when first started using it 16yrs ago.

still on an exhilarating HIGH after joining the local library over the weekend.

plugging into a public resource of dynamic learning *and* local knowledge complete w/ gossipy whispering down the back is, I think you’ll find, a major component of the dream Douglas Hyde and Pearse were so mad into 📚 🔌

I have tags on my keys, wallet and headphones, which I had left in the truck outside the building. The headphones were showing their true location but everything else in this building was broadcasting from Bré.

Even spookier, as I got closer to the windows in the building, my location bounced to being across the river ~200m away but still wouldn’t show me as being inside this place. Also, the phone’s compass was way off and not recalibrating.

My phone also now says it’s in Bray. Checked across various map apps and each started showing my location as Bray.

On a job in this place, I had taken my coat off with my tagged keys inside a pocket. Later, when I went to get a thing from my coat, I see it had been moved from the office room where I had it. This is when I was pinged with a notification that my keys -and coat- had been last seen in Bray.

so the vacant building in Dublin’s docklands which formerly hosted a major US telecoms company - same co that was fined $47m for sharing access to users’ live location data last yr - SEEMS to still be fitted with a gps spoofer, broadcasting locations >20km away and sending my airtags haywire 🫨

despite the dismal macro outlook, was seeing first-hand how resilient forest systems are, when even partially allowed regenerate, + the solidarity & inventiveness of local communities when transitional supports & incentives are put in place and sustained.

Listed as a vulnerable species only in 2022, the precarious existence of the monarchs has been well-documented and their colony numbers are down 90% from 25 years ago

The ancient oyamel forests are a unique sweet spot for the monarchs and provide an ideal humid microclimate, cold but stable temperatures + shelter, despite not being abundant in flowers.
