Peter Caddick-Adams' 2020 masterpiece on the D-Day landings is the most thorough and engaging account I've read on Normandy. Impeccably researched and highly readable, it even covers the French contributions. A must-read for history buffs! Next up: Stephen Fisher's book on Sword Beach.

Bonjour from France! Just finished Spook Street, book 4 of Slow Horses. Starting London Rules before Season 5 drops.

What's your favourite book in the series? Do you think the show is as good as the books or better?

Bonjour Womble,
Halfway through Caledonian Road by O'Hagan. It's a brilliant dive into today's UK society, but the pronouns and London slang are tripping me up! Not as funny as Coe. Also, why's the French version in "Bibliothèque écossaise"?

Please excuse this naive question from a reader in mainland Europe. As a P.G. Wodehouse enthusiast who enjoys British humour, I wonder: does this book fall into the category of British humour? Also, is it filled with legalese that might be difficult for a non-native English speaker to understand?

Morning Womble!
Just finished Small Things Like These by Claire Keegan—such a beautiful read! Loved it so much that I’m gifting it to all my book-loving relatives this Christmas. Now on the hunt for my next read—any recommendations?

This non-fiction book. I may also persuade someone to offer me Claire Keegan's Small Things Like These, which, according to your followers, is among the finest recent works of Irish fiction.
I am currently working on my wishlist.

Same year as your RBL Handbook. The longer footage includes the British Legion at Notre-Dame de Lorette, the Prince of Wales in Béthune and Lille, women, and Scottish veterans at the Menin GATE—not Menin Bridge, obviously. I'm new to this platform and don’t know how to edit.

Please advise this European fan of Scottish novels. I've just finished Shuggie Bain—what 2024 Scottish book should I read if I can only pick one?

Main de Massiges stands out as an impressive, authentic WWI trench. The reconstructed trench at Meaux, inspired by the IWM London, is built for public access, especially school groups. Meanwhile, Chattancourt, Meuse, near Verdun, features a trench redug on an actual WWI frontline.

For an authorized answer, you would need to contact the appropriate officials at the Conseil régional de Normandie in Caen.
My understanding is that many wrecks and remnants of the artificial harbours off the coast are set to be protected as part of this initiative.

Most of those involved here strongly believe we owe this to the soldiers who landed on D-Day. There is a profound sense that we must act now, as most of them have passed away.

Momentum in 🇨🇵 is excellent now. However, we still need the support of our Historian friends to help us push this through.

After a decade of waiting, it's time: Normandy D-Day beaches deserve UNESCO World Heritage status. A site of global significance, supported by locals, regional leaders like Hervé Morin, the 🇨🇵 government, and our 🇺🇲🇬🇧🇨🇦 international allies. Far less controversial than some theme park projects here.
