Zero tolerance for trolls, agitators and liars, including those who falsely equate critics of the Israeli genocide to be supporters of Hamas or antisemitic.
You will be blocked without warning. I recommend to study basic logic and what it means to have fallen for, and not resist, propaganda.

This is why universities have to take the political changes very seriously - and not just in the US but also in various European countries: we will be one of the first to be attacked when fascism grows.
(if you think this cannot happen in the Netherlands, remember the Owl of Minerva Speech by TB)

I didn't realize that this threat was as current and urgent as it was. Here's a piece by the Guardian describing @mark-bray.bsky.social's situation: www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

I can warmly recommend his book The Care Economy, in which @timjackson.org.uk discusses at length the importance of putting care and prevention central rather than spending all our resources on cure; it is very central to his argument.
ingridrobeyns.bsky.social
I agree with the importance of care and prevention, and no doubt @timjackson.org.uk would agree too. It was implicitly in the interview, e.g. in the discussion on the role of big food & farma, one causing the problems that the other then addresses, thereby twice creating profit for capitalists.

The Netherlands has been suffering from the most incompetent, cowardly, and, on many issues, plainly immoral government that this country has had for ages. We have elections coming up in four weeks. Let's hope we can turn this extreme-right tide around. 🤞

These protests are organised around the metaphor of "the red line", referring to the question that NGOs and others asked our government multiple times, namely: When do you think Netanyahu has crossed a red line? Our government has refused to draw any line at all - hence the metaphor.

Today, 250.000 people took to the streets of Amsterdam to protest Israel's genocidal violence in Gaza and the cowardly response by the Dutch government. It followed on two earlier protests, one with 150.000 protesters, and the first one with about 100.000. By Dutch standards, these are huge numbers.

Thank you, New York Times. I like the word 'mighty', but the truth (as I see it) is that since writing it, my book has become pretty non-radical, given how events in the world are unfolding.

Humanities are a prerequisite for a free society - it's always an early victim of authoritarian tendencies.
ingridrobeyns.bsky.social
As @remcobreuker.bsky.social, professor of Korea Studies has said before: there is a reason why North Korea doesn't have humanities.

An attack on the humanities is an attack on Academia's capacity to hold up a mirror to society and its leaders, which a healthy society needs.

In the US, another blow for independent reasoning, as Trump fires 22 of the 26 members of the National Council for the Humanities, a board of "scholars and humanities leaders appointed by the president to six-year terms" who advise the chair of the NEH on grantmaking, policy and funding decisions."

Not if we look at wealth concentration and number of billionaires.
ingridrobeyns.bsky.social
I hope the new Task force will embrace the idea to search for an Extreme Wealth Line, the idea that at some point, wealth holdings become corrosive for society (in addition to it often being morally undeserved or historically tainted). For the EWL Initiative, see extremewealthline.com

Countries from the Global South are showing us the way out of the inequality crisis... after Brazil's proposal for a global minimum income tax on all billionaires under its G20 presidency, now South Africa has installed an Expert Taskforce to combat wealth Inequality >

And now we see the treatment that GL/PVDA receives from not only PVV, BBB, and JA21, but also VVD in the Netherlands... very scary stuff.

On my way back home, on the “Afsluitdijk” (the longest dyke in the Netherlands), after three intens days at Terschelling, with about 800 sustainability transition professionals (and 3 philosophers). #Springtij
