SNAFU by Ed Helms, 4 stars. This was an ear book, so I listened to it while doing Christmas. It was so interesting. Ed has a great delivery which shouldn’t be surprising. Might check out the podcast with the same name now. #booksky

When I Was Death by Alexis Henderson, 4 stars. I got this as an ARC and it is a study in grief. Roslyn is traveling the world doing work for Death and trying to come to terms with her sister’s death. Look for it in March! #booksky

The Princess Bride by William Goldman, 3.75 stars. Of course, I knew the story and enjoyed that some of the movie dialogue was started here but I found the pacing to be off. One chapter was almost 100 pages! I did enjoy the meta-commentary though so that was fun. #booksky

A Witch’s Guide to Magical Thinking by Sangu Mandanna, 4.5 stars. This is the second cozy witchy book from Sangu and it was also just as cute. I loved the inn and all its lodgers and how organically the love story grew. And the finale was *chef kiss* #booksky

As You Wish by Cary Elwes, 5 stars. I had not heard of this book despite The Princess Bride being one of my favorite movies of all time. Cary brought it up in light of Rob Reiner’s murder and listening to it was such a gem. This really was a passion project and I’m so glad it was made. #booksky

Not Good for Maidens by Tori Bovalino, 4 stars. This was very good. Exploring goblin lore is new to me so all the tricks and twists were fun. The ending is kind of open-ended though but I suppose so are all goblin markets. Come buy, come buy! #booksky

The Everlasting by Alix E. Harrow, 5 stars. Omg I knew at 42% that this story would end me and here I sit, ended. The love story across time was perfection. I love them so much and the villain was a real piece of work, you love to hate them! #booksky

Network Effect by Martha Wells, 4 stars. This was the first Murderbot novel which I was not expecting but I loved. The story had enough room to grow, the mystery was interesting, and like Murderbot…I had an emotion. Very excited for the new friends we made & can’t wait for new adventures. #booksky

Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil by V. E. Schwab, 3.5 stars. I love vampire stories, they’re always chaotic and fun and this was fun. And the ladies were messy! What fell apart for me was it was too dang long. Alas, you win some, you lose some. #booksky

Hollow by Taylor Grothe, 4.75 stars. WHAT. This book was so wild. I loved every minute of it. A camping trip gone wrong with poor Cassie trying to make sense of everything. Very good autism representation, def recommend listening to it. #booksky

November reads wrap up. Slightly slower reading pace this month but hey, sometimes it’s like that. The Steeping of Blood ending is something I’m still not over. #booksky #readingwrapup

Even Though I Knew The End by C.L. Polk, 4.25 stars. This is a very fun novella. It’s a noir, which I really enjoyed and the story between heaven, hell, angels, demons, and what we do for love was damn near perfect. #booksky

way not was 🤦🏻‍♀️
A Harvest of Furies by Hayden Casey, 4.25 stars. This was a Greek retelling of The Oresteia which I was unfamiliar with but that’s okay. The writing is fantastic and the was the characters were unhinged made you unhinged and not to be outdone, but the house is also unhinged. #booksky

The Ten Thousand Doors of January by Alix E. Harrow, 4.5 stars. This book is beautiful. The writing is amazing as always. It’s a book-in-a-book situation and both stories are top tier. I, of course cried but you know what? I’m once again still thinking about the damn dog. #booksky

A Sorceress Comes to Call by T. Kingfisher, 4 stars. This was an interesting book. One where you’re flooded with dread for your main character the whole time bc the baddie is that bad. But the conclusion was satisfying! #booksky

I, in the shadows by Tori Bovalino, 4 stars. Thank you to NetGalley for this arc. This book was beautiful. The friendship between Drew and Liam was thoughtful and messy as all teens are. I liked the conclusion and the hope that comes at the end with the remaining, living characters. #booksky

A Steeping of Blood by Hafsah Faizal, 4.5 stars. What a conclusion! This book took me places I wasn’t expecting and I love how Arthie and Flick grew as people. The ending made me cry! #booksky

The Sacred Space Between by Kalie Reid, 4.5 stars. I read this an ARC and absolutely loved it. The magic system is so unique and ya girl loves to see a corrupt church have a revolution. Maeve and Jude were also so complex and creative, the writing is amazing. #booksky

I Want to Burn This Place Down by Maris Kreizman, 3 stars. I heard this author on Your Wrong About and was intrigued. The premise is “breaking out of the liberal myths” and while she has realized how much the game is rigged, she never goes far enough to actually want to burn anything down. #booksky

Make Me a Monster by Kalynn Bayron, 3 stars. This was an interesting Frankenstein retelling but unfortunately, the ending was a big miss for me. #booksky

October #readingwrapup. Several more spooky books than I thought. #booksky

Nettle & Bone by T. Kingfisher, 5 stars. Am I still thinking about Bonedog 12 hours later? You betcha babe. This is my first T. Kingfisher book and boy did it get knocked out of the park. I love Marra so much and her little crew. Very excited to read more from this author. #booksky

The House Where Death Lives anthology, 4 stars. This is my second anthology of the spooky season and imo, it was much creepier. Some of the stories really stuck with me and I liked the format of moving from the attic to the grounds of a spooky house. #booksky

Hazelthorn by C.G. Drews, 4.5 stars. It’s release day for this absolute beauty. I read this as an ARC and will it mess you up? Will you thank CG for the opportunity? Yes and yes. I haven’t been able to stop thinking about the ending. #booksky
