Seulgi wants to break her image as the shy Asian dork of middle school. Then she could slow dance with a boy, humble bullies, and express her needs to her parents. When her "outsider" friends open up with her, she realizes she can cherish herself without having to prove anything.

Can a trio of middle school "outsiders" help each other stumble through what seems like painful requisites of growing up? Seulgi, Nadia and Leonard push each other to start acting on their daydreams, but when one of them goes all out, the rest get dragged along too.

In 1999, Seulgi feels uncool as one of the few Asian kids in middle school. But new student Nadia latches onto her, and Leonard, the stray pup-like boy down the street, opens up. Sharing warm moments and stumbling through shenanigans, they begin to perceive themselves with love.

I started binging the 1st season of Son of a Critch. It made me lol so much. I love stories about youngsters going through embarrassing, funny things. Bonus points if there are darkly hilarious elder characters "guiding" them. This show reminds me so much of the MG comic I want to write.
