The fact that the individual did not even double check the work of ChatGPT is more telling. The marketing of these services is around ease of use and performance. People are just not aware of the need to check the work of their favourite AI before they use it... Paying a heavy price for that now...

US is rapidly heading into pariah state territory with its behaviour. It is only necessary to trade with it until you don't need to and a lot of countries will, if they can, seek to limit their exposure to its bullying behaviour in the long-term.

What gets me, is no one seems to care, no marches on Washington, no ex-Presidents speaking out. Some local activity but not much else. Actions in the virtual sphere have to become real world actions - time for keyboard warriors to become real world warriors.

I know my students coding style and skill level. If something looks off, I sit down with them and get them to talk the code through with me. It becomes very clear that it is not their work. I am not against AI but want them to learn coding basics before relying on it, etc

I hope the AI assistants do the same for my Comp Sci students who seem to be becoming quite dependent on them...
