The tragedy is that false confessions can be prevented. Audiovisual recording of custodial interrogations creates an irrefutable record of what occurred.

The act would mandate that, in cases involving violent crimes, custodial interrogations of both adults and minors performed by law enforcement must be electronically recorded.

In just a few short minutes, the House Judiciary Committee will hold a hearing before a vote is taken on House Bill 413, the Uniform Electronic Recordation of Custodial Interrogations Act.
