Goats fit this as well. I'm not a fan of goat meat, but after spending a bit of time with the goats my sister was keeping, I found myself increasingly in favour of *someone* eating them even if it wasn't me.

Many years ago, my girlfriend and I went to the beach with her son, who -- despite having two 5'6" parents -- was the size of a family sedan and extremely mobile at ~16 months. With zero warning, that kid suddenly *sprinted* toward the ocean. Toddlers yearn for Poseidon's embrace.

Successful authoritarians have massive security apparatuses, well beyond just the jackboots. Mother-in-law of someone I know is a camera-watcher in China; there are millions of camera-watchers and social-media-scrutinizers and dossier-makers and Trump has, like, two-dozen edgelords doing that work.

They legitimately believe that the median American voter is a 30 year old unemployed groyper* who spends all day posting AI memes of questionably-of-age girls and graphs of skull circumferences, so that's who they are governing toward, and they seem confused that these things don't poll well.

They're have hurt a lot of people and they'll hurt a lot more. But that isn't really an accomplishment, and they're mostly just finding new and innovative ways to get the public to hate them, which is a questionable opening gambit if you want to become the permanent governing authority.

The most disruptive students are those for whom the classwork is either well above or below their level of competency, and kids who finished the work 30 minutes ago and are bored stiff tend not to be quiet (unless they're asleep). Tailoring difficulty of work to kids' capabilities is good IMO.

For the sake of comparison, the 8oz filet at the Outback Steakhouse in the shopping mall in Dayton OH is $33. Being 36% more expensive than Outback in a nice restaurant in Washington -- rather than a suburban shopping archipelago in the midst of Ohio -- seems pretty reasonable to me!

Going to college means meeting people of different backgrounds and ethnicities and nationalities, and discovering that a great many of them are smarter and more worldly than you. And that can be a learning experience and a chance to grow, or it can turn you into Pete Hegseth and many of his ilk.
