Sarcastic mister know it all.
Absolutely. The only reason the Lords hasn’t been abolished is because both the Labour and Tory parties think that they can benefit from it. I made a suggestion that they could still appoint people to the Lords if they want, but based on the numbers on PR.

I’ve yet to agree with any of his views, nor those of his wife. They would probably say that I am not politically aligned with them, I just consider myself more sane than them.

If we’re talking pie in the sky… I’d like to see the Lords completely gone and replaced by an upper chamber of appointees based on PR. Keep the Commons as a house of representatives, for personal interest issues and have the other lot govern. How’s that?

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothin' to kill or die for
And no religion, too
Imagine all the people livin' life in peace.
John Winston Lennon.
I worry about my fellow human beings, with all that hatred just under the surface. Me.

I hope dad is okay…. I include Blair and Brown as among TORY leaders who helped get the NHS to the state it’s in now. The NHS has been a nice little earner for corrupt people and they have just about killed the goose that laid the golden egg.

The employment rights bill was treated with disdain, because it didn’t include unfair dismissal protection from day one. I started a new job this year and had to work six months probation, unfair dismissal protection after that is fine with me. Any less risks wasting tribunal time.

It’s like a little USA in this country at the moment. Poor people are voting for a man who claims he will oust the establishment, when he is a part of the rich, corrupt establishment. No one seems concerned about his track record, doing little to nothing good and his party bringing chaos everywhere

Labour are proficient at burying good news, aided by a hostile media. The media even portray good news as bad, shown by the outcry about the economy not being as bad as was widely believed. I’d suggest that the government should blow their own trumpet, but the media only want to cover bad news.

A man who has been responsible for over a hundred thousand unnecessary deaths isn’t going to worry about a few more. Obviously this was his fellow Jews, but he won’t let that stop his political point scoring.

Cards on the table. I live in a former council estate in a Northern shit hole town. I’ve got a pug instead of a whippet! My ambition is to live a few years when I get to retirement. In this town, it’s either Labour or reform. I’d trust this lot over Nigel any day.
December 14, 2025 at 7:50 PM
There was no great swing to Labour, there was just a no show by Tory voters. I seriously doubt that the Corbynisters voted for Starmer and swept him to power. They’ve now gone green and carried on attacking Labour.
December 14, 2025 at 7:22 PM
I don’t expect people to be quiet now, I’m asking where they were when there massive problems with the government. Attacking the current administration, when the last lot of crooks got a free ride. I’ll not get back to where I would have been before the Tory lot devalued me!
December 14, 2025 at 7:04 PM
I realise I will not convince anyone. However, I would like to know where everyone now complaining was when inflation was near to 10%. People who complain about corruption now, when the Tory club were stealing tens of millions. Labour today are judged against an unreal ideal.

Nice to see you worrying about people being worse off, most of us had the value of our wages reduced by about 30% over the last years of that Tory regime. Meanwhile they continued to line their own pockets and those of their friends. I’d take this government any time over the last.
December 14, 2025 at 6:00 PM
I think that’s what some were expecting. At least some things are getting done, the previous government were too busy stuffing taxpayers money into their friend’s pockets. They were way too busy grifting to get any government work done.

So let’s get this straight. The European workers who were here and working legally are leaving and we are left with lots of people we don’t allow to work, who have to be paid for nothing. I liked the previous arrangement.

I live near Wakefield and I currently work near the Europort. I never thought of this as a cash strapped area, it appears to be thriving to me. Dozens of U.K. and multinational companies trade here. A really great area to live and work. Certainly no need for crackpot green ideology here.

The Greens on here were right, just look at these fascist, right wing moves this Labour government keeps making. Pure conservatism, nationalising like this. Shame to spend money on the rebrand, but most of it is done with wraps anyway.

We’ve just had the best targeted increase in benefits in about two decades.
December 6, 2025 at 2:29 PM
I must admit to being sceptical about these petitions achieving anything, but I’ll back it anyway.

In a civilised country the talk would be about how great it is to be able to lift that many children out of poverty. Not whether the economy is just bad, or very bad.

Is she the equivalent of the cricketing night watchman? I’m not quite at Syd’s level of dislike, but saying, “she started it” just about sums up her mentality. I’ve never liked the descent into playground insult politics.

Piers and Rebecca Brooks should both have been held accountable for their roles in the phone hacking scandal. Saying that they didn’t personally hack anyone’s phone isn’t good enough, when they were the ones reaping the rewards. The buck stopped with them.
November 30, 2025 at 1:03 PM
Agree again. I’ve been inundated with replies from Greens supporters, telling me how benefits have been cut and LGBTQ+ rights have been eroded. Where has all that come from, was it in the budget? No one seems to have taken in the facts and figures, just the propaganda.
November 30, 2025 at 12:49 PM
Same here. Ditto the changes to salary sacrifice pension plans, which don’t come in until 2029. Most of it is years down the line, whilst being portrayed as happening tomorrow.
