Deaths from postpartum haemorrhage (PPH) are preventable — in 2023, nearly 45k women lost their lives to excessive bleeding after birth.

Now, we take a step forward: 5 of October will be marked annually as World #PPHDay — a call for action, advocacy, & accountability.

During #BreastCancerAwareness Month, we want to underline an essential part of the job of midwives – provide unbiased education on non-communicable diseases like breast cancer. Midwives have the knowledge to educate women on self-examinations & how to seek further care.

In 2020, New Zealand’s abortion law reform reframed abortion as a health issue — opening the door for midwives to provide early medical abortion care.
For rural midwives, this has been transformative: expanding their scope of practice & strengthening community access to services.
